How it all began....

A corporate take-over followed by an unexpected re-structure meant, the now DJ, Neil Aldini, was facing redundancy - the push he needed to bring his concept, Aldini Music to you today.

Dedicated to one singular organisation for well over a decade, Neil now needed to focus within himself (not work) and during this time of self actualisation, Neil's natural talent boldly highlighted his true passion laid within music.

Neil's talents may never have been uncovered if it was not for a thoughtful Christmas gift of an "IDJ" by Numark that same year. By February, the dual IPOD "IDJ" simulating the role of a DJ was not enough and Neil personally developed his natural ear for beat mixing and sound utilising CD decks. Neil does not believe in modern day digital mixing where the computer not only mixes the tracks together for the user but tells them which tracks work best with others so, CD decks is as automated as he is willing to let technology aid his natural skills on the turntables.

Nothing makes Neil happier than to look up into a crowd in absolute hysteria, unable to stand still and understands this can only be reached through knowing what's hot right now and mixing this with diversity and flexibility, facilitating each set as it morphs into a masterpiece of audio heaven. Each set is considered by Neil as a journey and is fast becoming known for his originality, playing versions of tracks never heard before, causing such a stir some of Sydney's well known DJ's have been seen approaching Neil post a set, asking Neil to share the source of where certain track versions may be downloaded.

Residencies have been held at Jackson's on George - Sydney, Scruffy Murphy's - Sydney and regular guest appearances at The Marlborough Hotel - Sydney in addition to numerous pod casts held on local radio stations.

Internationally, Neil's resident radio set with EDM 1 Radio in Washington, PA & guest appearances on Muzo Phile in California.

Neil is building his profile in the Sydney Gay Scene during 2008, details of future events, more information on Neil and complimentary downloads of some of Neil's sets can be found throughout his site - www.neilaldini.com

Playlist - Gig - Friday 4th July 2008 [Competition Outcome] 12am - 4am

When i entered this competition i didn't think that 'luck of the draw' was how you would win this competition... But never the less i entered, turned up with 9 other DJs for an interesting night ahead... The start of the night we had Natasha Knowles introducing us all on stage & at this point we all had to draw a number from a hat. The number represented the time each DJ was to play. All DJs were required to play for half an hour starting from 12am. I was very lucky to draw number 2.... couldn't believe it! but even better... DJ 1 was a computer DJ that had issues with his mp3.... so number 2 goes 2 number 1. GREAT!!!!! (Playlist listed below). Playing my set at 12am & having the competition judged by the crowed at 4am... I had no chance right from the beginning. Even though the competition was judged by DJ Justin Scott it meant nothing... Now every DJ & party people know a nightclub doesn't start going off till at least 2-3am. I had a total of 15 people listening to my set... that was the 7 other DJ's, Arq staff & my best mate Nile. (no word of a lie). All i know about the winner of this round was that she was the last DJ listed to play from 3:30-4am where a heap of people from the Arena level had come down & audience reaction was obviously going to be for the last DJ on because they weren't there to hear any of the other DJs. Not sure why this competition had judges when they didn't judge! I knew this when i entered just disappointed that the best club on the strip would hold a competition of luck. I did have the opportunity to meet DJs Justin Scott & Jimmy Dee & i am grateful for the experience!
Here is my playlist for the evening:
  • 1 Plus 1 Off The Wall (Enjoy Yourself) (Dave Darell Club Remix)
  • Sam Sparro Black & Gold (Steve Pitron & Max Sanna Remix)
  • Blow Up John Travolta (Nari & Milani Remix)
  • Sharam Feat. Daniel Bedingfield The One (Cedric Gervais Remix)
I will record this set shortly & give everyone that follows my DJ career a chance to judge for themselves on how i went... A big thank you to my best friend Nile... my only friend that showed up to support me! With his heavy work schedule Friday night & Saturday with the Sydney & Perth Horse Races he still found the time to sit with me from the beginning to the end! A true friend through & through and this i thank you shitbag! ;) If i was to have 1 friend for the rest of my life I'm happy its YOU! Until my next gig peoples!!
